John is the President of both Aztech Energy and Aztech Geothermal. He is principally responsible for identifying and developing projects to best utilize Aztech’s strengths in engineering design, predictive cost modeling, energy monitoring and practical field experience. John is a resource to building owners, construction companies, engineers, architects and investors regarding the latest renewable and energy efficiency technologies, government incentives and project financing options. He is an IGSHPA Accredited Geothermal Installer, a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Contractor and a Certified Green Professional with the NAHB. Prior to leading energy businesses activities with Aztech, John was a co-founder and CEO of Cyclics Corporation, a global technology and material supplier which purchased a patent portfolio from General Electric to develop and sell a new recyclable plastic material. John has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Union College.
Manager of Operations
Fil is a co-founder of Aztech Technologies, an environmental services company for a wide variety of clients throughout the Northeast. Aztech has a staff of geologists, engineers and field personnel engaged in investigating, monitoring and the eventual remediation of environmentally impacted sites. Fil’s drive to reduce the use of fossil fuels led to the construction of Aztech Technologies “green building” in 2005 that includes a geothermal heating and cooling system. At Aztech Geothermal, Fil designs the ground heat exchanger systems based on building heating and cooling loads. He also participates in the management and oversight of field operations on larger projects. Fil is an IGSHPA Accredited Installer and certified in geothermal pipe fusion. He holds his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Manager of Engineering
Fil Jr. oversees all engineering activities with a particular emphasis on system design, control logic and component selection. His goal is to minimize installation and operating costs while maximizing comfort and environmental benefits. He is engaged in the modeling of new and existing buildings to provide data used to estimate operating savings and overall project economics. Prior to joining Aztech, Fil spent over 25 years as a partner in the engineering firm of Rist Frost Associates in Glens Falls, NY. Many of his projects involved specifying the HVAC systems for various commercial and municipal buildings. More recently Fil Jr. worked as an independent engineering consultant focused primarily on mechanical systems and co-generation technologies. Fil Jr. has his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Project Engineer
Geoff is responsible for all field operations and the commissioning of geothermal systems. He interfaces with customers, subcontractors and Aztech technicians to ensure an efficient and quality installation. Geoff is also involved in the design of the systems by conducting building heat load analysis and equipment sizing. He is an IGSHPA accredited installer, certified in geothermal pipe fusion. Prior to joining Aztech Geothermal he owned and operated his own residential geothermal design and installation company and has over 20 installations on his resume. Geoff has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis) and over 20 years experience in Maintenance and Operations Management in manufacturing facilities.
